Landing Pages became popular around 2015 and continue to work as one more tool to connect to potential clients.  I  am continually looking for ways to increase my conversion rate, but first things first.  What is a Landing Page?

A Landing Page is simply a page focused to one call to action without the distractions of a menu or sidebar. It is a way to focus your traffic to a specific desired response.

You may create three different landing pages to see which one generates the best response.   What works for one group of people may not work for another.  Your prime focus is to convert visitors into leads.  Your goal is to give something valuable enough that visitors would freely give their information to receive.  Both parties are winning.

A Few Fresh Tips
  • Focus your offer to a specific audience
  • Simple, clear and engaging headline
  • Give just enough information
  • Connect to visitors emotions
  • Have a specific call to action
  • Assure your visitor you are authentic and legitimate
  • Believe in the value you are offering

Hosting Services

To make your website visible to the world, it has to be hosted on a web server. Hosting Services are companies that provide space on a server owned or leased for use by clients, as well as providing internet connectivity, typically in a data center.
We recommend that you buy your domain name separate from your hosting service. This makes it much easier if need be, to change your domain name or server in the future. Many hosting services offer a free domain name with the purchase of your hosting service (most are only free for the first year anyway). Don’t do it. Purchase your domain name before opening your Hosting Services account. Make sure the Hosting Service has an easy installation button for WordPress. We charge a $200 fee to install WordPress on servers that do not accommodate WordPress easy installation. That is one of the reasons why we recommend Bluehost. Installation is easy and their customer service is top notch.

DNS or Domain Name System

is a way to remember a long numeric url address by translating it into words. It gives every internet service a memorable and easy-to-spell address. Go to a domain name service website to see if your business name is available.
When selecting a domain name:

  1. Select a short and easy to spell name
  2. If your business name is unavailable get creative but stay simple and clear.
  3. Purchase other domain names that can be redirected or forwarded to your primary domain name.

For instance:

primary = iammomentproductions.com

forwarded domain names: iamomentproductions.com, iammomentproduction.com

If your domain name has words that can easily be misspelled or an ‘s’ forgotten then purchase the mistakes too.

We recommend that you purchase your domain name from a separate company than where you are hosting your website. This makes it much easier if need be, to change your domain name or server in the future. Purchase your domain name prior to purchasing your hosting service so that you can point your domain name to your hosting service upon set-up with costumer service.

Domain names are used to identify one or more IP addresses. For example, the domain name microsoft.com represents about a dozen IP addresses. Domain names are used in URLs to identify particular Web pages. For example, in the URL http://www.webinitmedia.com/, the domain name is webinitmedia.com. Be sure and purchase a .com domain name unless you are a non-profit organization.

Every domain name has a suffix that indicates which top level domain (TLD) it belongs to. There are only a limited number of such domains. For example:

· gov – Government agencies

· edu – Educational institutions

· org – Organizations (nonprofit)

· mil – Military

· com – commercial business

· net – Network organizations

· ca – Canada
· th – Thailand

In Summary

Because the Internet is based on IP addresses, not domain names, every Web server requires a Domain Name System (DNS) server to translate domain names into IP addresses. First look to see if your domain name is available. Be sure it is short and easy to spell. Purchase your domain name to secure it before it is taken.

Welcome to the beginning of Google Ranking. Have you asked yourself This question? How do I promote my website? What else can I do to draw people to my website? It seems to be a question I ask myself regularly as well. I read many articles, learning from others and have come to a few common practices that will help start the process.  Be prepared to spend 2-3 days getting your business name established.

Start New Accounts at These Free Hubs – Add a Link to Your New Website.

  • Small Business Yellow Pages
  • Yahoo Local – easy and quick
  • Bing Local – This was a bit complicated – you must have an msn account to open this. Once you verify your account you can add your business information. It is not user friendly but worth the effort.
  • Superpages – Easy and user friendly application – confirm your email- claim your business and enter your content.
  • Thumbtack allows you to advertize your company for free, but will charge you for every lead you accept. You have a choice as to whether you want to accept that lead or not. I like thumbtack, because people can recommend you. Thumbtack
  • Yelp – allows you to advertize locally. Clients are able to leave reviews bumping you up on their search engine. They also offer paid packages guaranteeing you are in the top ten when searched.
  • Gig Salad – If you have a service connected to entertainment, advertize here. If you want to put your website link, address and phone# on the add, you will have to pay.
  • Vimeo and You Tube -If you have videos streamlined to your website, make sure the descriptions, title and tags are filled out well, giving Google something to draw from. Put a link to your website and fan page in the description of your You Tube account Vimeo does not allow it.
  • Facebook Fan Page – Remember that the first 18 characters of a Facebook post serve as the meta description. When Facebook prompts you to “Write something…” do it, because that will be the SEO title for that update. Google places a higher importance on the first word of your update, so you may want to consider making that a keyword.
  • Patch – This is a local news site with the ability to list your company to the local community. Find you local community by entering your zip code. Click the join link on the top right menu. An email will be sent to verify your account and then sign in. You can add photos and more about your business. It take a few days to be live once they verify your business. You can also pay to advertise on their website.
  • Business Jobs – Very user Friendly, just make an account and add your content.
  • Google Places – Sign in to your google account or create a new one and then enter your business information. They will send you a postcard with a pin#. You have 30 days to input the pin# into the top of your google business listing.
  • localeze – is not a local search site, it is a back-end data provider to many other local search services.

Add Content to Your Website Well

  • Label your pictures well before uploading: What the photo is and the size of the photo for browser indexing in pixels ex – 500 x 300.
  • Choose headers for your blogs that someone would Google.
  • Layout your content with a keyword in mind.
  • Put the keyword in your title, content, meta data and in an image added to the page.
  • Use SEO by Yoast to coach you through all your content added.  This plugin will give you a red, yellow or green light according to how well you added content to your website.

Pay to Advertise a Service You Offer

  • Google Ads – Work with customer service to fine tune the search for your services offered. You get charged per click of your ad, so you only want serious viewers to come to your website. Turn the ad on and off when you want. Once your money is used up, the ad is removed. Prepare to be on the phone for a few hours.
  • Yahoo Ads
  • Facebook Ads – Pay to have an ad on Facebook and to promote people to like your Facebook Fan page.
  • Bajookers – the layout of the website seems a bit antiquated, but if you are a Sacramento Local Business it is a way to offer coupons to the local community.
  • MiNeeds – If you are a photographer post your website and services here. It is free to set up an account. You will receive leads quickly but in order to bid on them you will have to sign up for $4.99/month plan and then get charged $10 per bid submitted.

Start Blogging

  • Start simple by blogging once a month
  • Consider hiring Webinet Media to video you sharing your expertise – video is the second biggest draw to a website.
  • Blogging increases the information Google can draw from.  Pick titles and headers to your post that someone would google.
  • The more you blog the more active and alive your website is, causing Google to notice.

Be a Guest Blogger on a Colleagues Website

  • Consider swapping expertise with a colleague.  Have them guest blog on your website and visa versa.
  • Document all the websites you have been a guest blogger on in Google + settings.
  • This allows you to share your followers and increase traffic to your website.

Become Active on Social Media

  • Use Buffer to post regularly on one free social media account – download the app on your iphone – I sue both Daily and the standard Buffer app,  decide on the regularity and times to post.  This allows me to collect posts at irregular times to add to the queue.
  • Post your recent work on Facebook and Google Business Pages and tag clients to spread the wealth
  • Open an Instagram Account and try to post daily.  Stick to a style of photos that your followers respond to.

Wistia

A new video hosting service for those video buffs.
Here is the skinny:

Price

Free forever, with room for up to 3 videos. After the first three videos, prices increment up from $16 to unlimited use for $240 anually.
Wistia Learning Center: Your hub to teach, learn, and discuss video marketing
Wistia Labs is a testing ground for the newest and most experimental video marketing tools.

My Thoughts

It is a great way to store a large amount of videos. All the other added tools available seem great and I can’t wait to explore some of them over the next few weeks. Three of my favorite features that Wistia offers (Vimeo and YouTube do not offer) is the ability to embed a video with a pop over feature, add a download button and social media links. Play the video below to enjoy the background fading and just focusing on the video playing. Some other great features are, the ability to add a picture, logo, or call to action once the video ends. You can even add a link to your logo. A nice feature. You can adjust all the colors of buttons etc, ask your viewer to enter their email before or after viewing the video, opt to add a skip option, and view stats about your video, helping you with your marketing goals. I also loved being able to upload my logo to show at the top of my account.

Overall I am impressed with their website. It was very user friendly. I was able to create an account easily, after verifying my email, I added a video to my account. My only drawback was, once I was logged in, I couldn’t access other information on their website. While I was uploading I wanted to explore the Wistia Labs and Learning Center.

Other options:
Choose Wistia Interactive Transcripts: are excellent for longer-form content and SEO purposes. Control the layout of your transcript when you embed it with SuperEmbeds.

Please let me know what you think of this new way to streamline your videos on the web.

Dropbox is a free service that lets you bring all your photos, docs, and videos anywhere. It works the way you do.
Get to all your files from anywhere, on any device, and share them with anyone.

My Thoughts

I use Dropbox to share my finished projects to clients.

Heres why:

  1. You start with 2G for Free
  2. It is an easy way to transfer video and photos from my phone to my computer – download the app and back-up your photos with ease.
  3. User Friendly – even my parent were able to navigate downloading it and receiving pictures from our recent family event.
  4. You can just send a link to view and download the items or you can share the folder, meaning you can both add to the folder and access the same files
  5. Free – did I already say free?

Download Dropbox
